Science In Practice is a current biology course at Central Michigan University where students will learn science by doing science as they explore conservation and management of a federally listed butterfly, the Poweshiek skipperling. Students taking this course will engage in the process of science and research, engage with professional stakeholders in the field of conservation science, and gain experience with important 21st century STEM skills (i.e. leadership, civic engagement, creativity, transdisciplinary thinking, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem solving, information literacy, global and cultural awareness, ethics, etc.).
